I had the Hana House cocktail to start. It had ocean vodka, guava purée, fresh orange, pineapple and lime juices. A pleasant enough drink but no trace of alcohol although the bartender said it was masked by the fruit juices. I had the poke bowl which I can't complain about. The chunks of ahi were larger than the ones back home. The restaurant was an open air affair woa beautiful view of the water across the street.

This is an update from a previous review, where I gave 1 star because I couldn't give zero. My what a difference a year makes! Last year we discovered they had taken the veggie sandwich off the menu and the waitstaff and manager on duty were just terrible. I checked the website to see if there were any menu updates and was happy to see they have added a veggie bowl. My husband wanted to give it another try so we did. We went during after the lunch rush, about 2. A member of the waitstaff greeted us and we asked to sit at the bar. We were greeted again at the bar by Tracy.. Who turned out to be a wonderful representative for Island Lava Java. We were served water quickly, I ordered a cocktail and that appeared in no time. The Pono Mai Tai is one of the best on the island. My husband has an oil allergy and Tracy was not fazed by that request one bit. She made sure she got the information from my husband that she needed and even suggested a different sauce that was oil free and suitable for vegans. She really made this order easy. We know it's not for some places and we respect that, so we are always so happy when someone does not treat us as if we have a crazy, ridiculous request. An allergy is an allergy and we all just need to be gracious. With Tracy it was no problem at all. The food came and oh my goodness. The vegetables were perfectly water sautéed or steamed. The tofu was perfect, and the sauce Tracy recommended was great. Tracy even took the time to tell us about how the kitchen staff is always chopping the vegetables fresh and there are time stamps and not everything done early in the morning and sitting in bowls all day. This was literally one of the best meals we've had out to eat in a long time. We very much appreciated Tracy's level of customer service and care. Since we were there between shifts for some people, at one point she was taking orders for all the other patrons, yet you could tell no one felt they weren't getting her attention. She was terrific and we are so glad we gave it another try. Adding this item to the menu to accommodate the plant based people, and having people like Tracy on staff has brought us back to Island Lava Java. We'll be back soon! Thank you Tracy!

Stayed consistent with what was shared about This location the "POKE BOWL'S " were Bomb!!! & Their Passion fruit Tart Dessert enough for 2-4 people had a Beautiful presentation & was Delicious! The Cocktails were worth it & tasted Great as well!!!

Al fresco dining with beach views in Kona town. Server was friendly and helpful with menu suggestions. Service was a good even For a busy Sunday crowd. We had the lava Java breakfast island style and the hoku croissant sandwich. Waffles came with a coconut sauce which was not too sweet with Mac nuts that gave it some crunch served with bananas- delicious. Croissant was solid. We enjoyed our meal and expect to come back again.

Excellent food and view. I got the fish tacos with fries and it was absolutely delicious. You can tell the fish is fresh. My brother got the pizza and said it was really good. Service and view was great. No wait either.

We went here for breakfast and ordered the garden scramble which was DELICIOUS! It came with many veggies and was topped with goat cheese and Mac nut pesto! We also ordered the pineapple upside down French toast which they make their own syrup and that was filling and delicious! I ordered the Matcha Latte which was perfect! Super creamy and not too sweet. My girl ordered the Hibiscus Mimosa which came with the flower inside and she ate that at the end! She def got a buzz off of this :) Our server was super attentive, and it's right on Alii drive so we were able to walk there from our room and have a view of the ocean!

Well!!! outstanding food options, cappuccino was strong and delicious, the view out of this world. They do have adult beverages. If you have kids you can definitely split the lava Java breakfast Plate as it has big portions. Pro Tip * instead of waiting make a reservation on open table to save time.

Good spot with a great view. We came here for breakfast and a morning espresso... martini. Make it a double! Nice way to start a day while on vacation! The food I got was great, I ordered the Eggs Benedict that was served with the fresh catch of the day. And those espresso martinis were delicious! I will say, my only issue would probably be with the service. Not terrible, just the tiniest bit dismissive. We felt like the hostess was a little short with us when my friend asked if there was any seating closer to the front; which we actually joked about with each other because my friend was very sweet about the way she asked. Also, our waiter didn't check up on us, which was a little disappointing, given our water was never refilled once while we sat there... and we ordered a double martini. That's a lot of alcohol for only one glass of water. But it could've just been an off day. I enjoyed the food and loved the views!

Food was great! Went for breakfast, which was great, and our server Ali recommended dinner. We came back for dinner and were not disappointed. Great atmosphere, ocean view and our server Ali was amazing!!! We will come back again soon.

I was here for breakfast before and it was pretty good, so decided to stop here for dinner. Great island ambiance, downstairs with live music and upstairs, beautiful sunset view. Very friendly server too! Kanaka fries was interesting. Mount of fries with sweet savory and wasabi sauce with sesame seeds...Mmmm... Wasabi lover will really like this dish. Ono fish & chips - soft and fresh Ono was sweet and tender. My chicken sandwich was okay, I wish I ordered fish & chips though. Also ask for today's special drink! They do come up with some interesting and delicious mixed drinks.
